The Historical Home of The Copperhill Opry
If something doesn't
happen quick, the
Opry will shut its doors and the event
venue will closed!
Built in the early 1900s, and located in Copperhill, Tennessee, this historic facility presents the perfect aura for the performing arts to the surrounding area. During the 1960s, this was home to a valid part of the direction music would take around the world. It was "THE" place to be on Saturday nights for hundreds of teens from 3 major High Schools in two states. Like many others from around the world, Copperhill and the surrounding area produced several local bands who could and did hold thier own with the more successful artists you grew up with on the radio. Now a part of the international 60s Garage Band Scene, this was the birthplace for some of the best local bands in the USA, and as much a part of that history as the bands themselves and still known to many as "The Copperhill Canteen".
The building has recently undergone some much needed repairs and additions but the stunning architecture has been preserved as it was, and is straight out of the 1920s when it was built. It's now a part of the National Historical Registry which includes the central business district of the city of Copperhill..
The City of Copperhill has joined forces with a new company called Copperhill Enterprises LLC which hopes to take advantage of the numerous resources the area already provides and bring another element to the city and the building. This effort will start out slowly but will strive to provide the highest professional standards for both the audience and the performers.
This effort will include opportunities and be open for all sorts of entertainment including but not limited to plays, musical productions, professional drama troupes, dance, choral, recitals, and various concerts including most genres of music such as country, bluegrass, gospel, pop, contemporary Christian, and more, with the main focus on family entertainment.
This will be a place to come and enjoy a good time with all that Copperhill and the surrounding areas have to offer. We will do our best to nurture the development, understanding, and appreciation of the arts throughout the community and the region. In time, we hope to become one of the premiere venues for world-class performances and will showcase local, regional and national artists in this historic setting.
Please support our efforts and help us present another reason why Copperhill, Tennessee will hopefully become an entertainment destination for anyone interrested in fun, music and the arts.
The Ocoee Info Site includes links for services
and membership which is open to businessess located
in and around the greater Copper Basin Area.
